Vote for 'Command Bar Workbench for Dynamics CRM 2013'
As we all should know, the Ribbon is being removed in Dynamics CRM2011 and replaced with the 'Command Bar':
However, the Command Bar is still customised using RibbonDiffXml and the Ribbon is still there on a few system forms and in the current version of Microsoft Outlook's list views.
So the question is...What should we call the Tool?

OR
Vote for: "Command Bar Workbench for Dynamics CRM 2013" http://bit.ly/12LbwDMPersonally - I'm leaning towards sticking with Ribbon Workbench.
Have your say!12 votesThank you to those of you that voted on this – it was almost equal between the two, so I’ve decided to stick with Ribbon Workbench for the following reasons:
1.The Command Bar in CRM 2013 is still defined with RibbonXml, but rendered differently. A new DisplayRule is used to exclude certain buttons from the CommandBar.
2.The Ribbon is still present on non-refresh entities and in Outlook so it’s important to still have support for Ribbon editing.
3.Since the Ribbon Xml remains unchanged, it’s important to understand and differentiate between Tabs/Groups and Layouts.
4.The Ribbon Workbench is already an established ‘brand’ than people know about.
So until we have CommandBar XML in a future version of Dynamics CRM – it’ll always be the Ribbon ‘XML’ Workbench with a silent ‘XML’!
The Ribbon Workbench for Dynamics CRM 2013 beta will be available for download very soon:

Changing the top menu of CRM (Sales, Service, Marketing ++)
Feels like I'm missing something here. I would like to edit the submenu of the main menu (blue line at the top). Is this possible through the Ribbon Workbench?

This would be done using the Sitemap editor in Dynamics 365 or the XrmToolbox.

Loading standard solution
Much as it might mostly be bad practice to directly edit the standard solution without adding your cusomizations to any specific one this choice (and risk) should probably be given to the user.
6 votesThanks for the suggestion!
The reason that the Ribbon Workbench doesn’t allow loading of the default solution is that it would result in very long download/upload times.
The only way to edit the ribbonxml is by downloading, unpacking, repacking and uploading the solution. For more information – see https://ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/169819-speed-up-publishing-of-solutions
Thanks!

Edit XML view
Being able to edit the XML view and apply the edit would be great.
I'm not sure if that might even already be possible now and I just don't know how. But tbh it also took me a while to see that it works the other way around: refreshing the XML view to represent what has been edited in the GUI
6 votesThanks for the suggestion! I have specifically avoided implementing this since the main reason for using the Ribbon Workbench is to avoid xml errors that can be difficult to spot. The main reason I find for needing to edit the xml is when I want to copy/paste items. I’ve added this feature in the latest beta. You can even copy/paste between different entities and environments. I hope you will find this a useful feature.

Hi Scott,
Hi Scott,
Playing with the XrmToolbox version (Beta 3.0.21.0).
Small UX tweak, would be nice if the ribbon workbench had a "close tab" button in its own ribbon (within the XrmToolBox).
Cheers!
Joe

You can use Tabs→Close Current Tab
Since the RWB has the same UI in both the installable solution and the XrmToolbox I’d rather not do add a button in one and not the other.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Since the Ribbon Workbench is hosted inside IE, unfortunately only IE can be opened.
The latest version of the Ribbon Workbench however has an auto-update feature, so you shouldn’t need to open the download link any more! -
Exporting a managed solution included some files from RibbonWorkbench in the XML
in solution.xml in the extracted managed solution
<RootComponent type="61" schemaName="dev1_RibbonWorkbench.xap"/><RootComponent type="61" schemaName="dev1_RibbonWorkbench.htm"/>
<RootComponent type="61" schemaName="dev1_RibbonWorkbench32.png"/>
<RootComponent type="61" schemaName="dev1_RibbonWorkbench16.png"/>Uninstalling RibbonWorkbench solved the problem - any ideas why this may have happened ?

Please build windows application
Please create separate Windows application like Visual Ribbon Editor has.It would be great for us
1 voteThanks for the suggestion! I have thought about this as an option but many people think that having the Ribbon Workbench as a solution is an advantage since it is available to all users and you don’t have to worry about configuring connection strings. If Silverlight support is removed in future versions of Dynamics CRM I will have to go down this approach but until then I don’t have any immediate plans to build a windows application.

Add language specific labels to the button that opens the Ribbon Workbench
It's just a slight annoyance, but I am working on CRM systems where the languange is hebrew.
I the solutions page where the button that opens up the Ribbon Workbench, I get a generic label for the button. It would be nice to get a meaningful label.1 vote -
I LOVE this tool. But sometimes when I publish, the button I added is greyed out. I publish a second time (no change), it starts working.
(possible) defect report.
1 voteHi Jordan,
Thanks for your suggestion – unfortunately this is an issue with the Dynamics CRM caching of Ribbon Commands. The button appears greyed out because when the button is published, the command cache isn’t always cleared and so it doesn’t have a command to link to.I find the easiest is to simply publish again when ever this happens. In CRM2013 the issue doesn’t appear to happen as often.
Hope this helps,

XRMToolBox
Would it be possible make it available for the XRM toolBox?
This would help customizes like me to use the same tool.Thank you
1 voteThis is a good suggestion but I feel that one of the advantages I think the Ribbon Workbench as is that it doesn’t need a client side install and can be used by multiple users from the browser. If at some point Silverlight support is withdrawn from Dynamics CRM then I will consider adding an XRM toolbox version for sure!
Thanks again. -
CRM 2011 doesn’t work if all tabs are hidden/disabled
CRM 2011 doesn’t work if all tabs are hidden/disabled. You should take care of that.
1 voteThank you for the suggestion – I would rather not put in restrictions on the number of tabs you can hide. In future versions of CRM, this issue may be fixed.

Thanks for the suggestion! As pointed out you can close the tab using the Tabs menu.
